ChoixVert Information Card

ChoixVert: Cultivate Social Responsibility

Issued by the non-profit Project ChoixVert organization, whose mantra is to “cultivate social responsibility," the ChoixVert Information Card is not intended to facilitate or generate financial transactions in any way. Instead it empowers Internet users to learn about the social responsibility of companies and products on the Internet.

The ChoixVert Information Card will be available from Project ChoixVert for free at http://www.choixvert.org. The ChoixVert data set is what is used as a source of data for indicating social responsibility. The phase one data set is based on America's Most Admired Companies, March 17, 2008 issue, FORTUNE. The “Most Admired” list is the definitive report card on corporate reputations. FORTUNE’s survey partners at Hay Group started with the FORTUNE Global 500 and large companies with revenue in excess of $10 billion. To create the 26 industry lists, Hay asked executives, directors and analysts to rate companies in their own industry on nine criteria, from investment value to social responsibility.

The initial ChoixVert dataset is based on the top ten companies in five categories for a total of 50 companies. Once you have the ChoixVert card, any google.com or yahoo.com web search that returns a link to one of the 50 companies in the data set and will display an indicator graphic. If the cardholder clicks on the graphic, the FORTUNE Magazine rating of that company is displayed. If the cardholder clicks on the link to the company, the indicated page is displayed with the social responsibility rating and an additional graphic with information specific to that company.

During the proof of concept phase, only the Azigo information card selector, is supported. Azigo also includes the necessary Kynetx browser extension so it does not require a separate download or installation.

During the subsequent production phase, additional selectors and data sets will be supported, expanding the reach of this exciting new application of Information Card technology.
