How To Accept Information Cards

There several methods to enable your applications or services to accept Information Cards. For more information about specific options with each method, please see Relying Party Solutions in our Resource Directory.

Integrated Framework Modules

If your website or service is written using a standardized application framework, there may be a module or component which can be installed to give you Information Card functionality very quickly.  For example, if you are using the Drupal or Joomla CMS framework, Information Card modules already exist and can be added to your framework without programming.

Information Card Development APIs

Information Card libraries or toolkits may already exist for your programming environment; for example, if you have written your product in .NET managed code, you can take advantage of the Geneva framework toolkit to easily add Information Cards to your already existing authentication methods.

Enterprise Identity Management Products

A number of commercial Enterprise Identity Management and Access Management products support Information Cards as a method of authentication and authorization.

Outsourced Web Services

SaaS (Software as a Service) and cloud services can also abstract authentication and authorization from your application, and several of these support Information Cards.  These are particularly effective for deploying strong identity services, as they can then communicate the identity of the user to your application using whatever method(s) your application already supports.
